Narendra Damodardas Modi was born to a family of grocers in a town called Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat. He was born on 17 September, to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and Heeraben Modi. The couple had six children among which Narendra Modi was the third eldest.Modi completed his studies against all odds. His saga of struggle began when as a teenager, he, along with his brother, used to run a tea stall near a railway station in Ahmedabad. Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on Sunday, 17 September (age 74 years; as of ) in Vadnagar, Bombay State (now Gujarat), India.
He did his schooling from Higher Secondary School, Vadnagar, Gujarat. He was an average student and a keen debater in his school. Modi was very keen on joining the Indian Army and also tried to get admission to a Sainik School. However, due to financial constraints, his wish could not get fulfilled.
