The best Alabama Crimson Tide wide receivers ever have all had a part in making Alabama one of the top-tier Division I college programs in the nation. While the early days of the college game were dominated by running backs, the rise of high-powered, high-scoring offenses means wide receivers have become a key piece of the college strategy.
Older players like Ozzie Newsome and David Bailey made their mark in the history of Alabama's offense with their great performances in the past, as newer players like Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley carried on that legacy with tremendous talent and skill. The Crimson Tide have had many wide receivers go on to the NFL, and some even had Hall of Fame-level careers, but it all started with their days starting for Alabama football.

Coming into spring practice, there appeared to be a bit of uncertainty in the offense after losing the top three receivers, starting quarterback, running back, fullback, a blocking tight end, and three starters across the offensive line. However after completing 15 spring practices that included two scrimmages and April 18’s A-Day spring game, the offense almost looks set in stone.

Alabama’s offense is in the middle of a reload on offense. Gone is Blake Sims, a one-year starter who put up the best passing year in Alabama history. Gone too is T.J. Yeldon, a brilliant performer for three years. The Crimson Tide are also replacing the greatest receiver in school history, Amari Cooper.
Not only is the Biletnikoff Award winner heading to the NFL, but the next two guys in line after Cooper, DeAndrew White and Christion Jones, are on their way out of Tuscaloosa as well. That leaves Alabama with quite a void to will at receiver.
Luckily for the Tide, there’s plenty of talent waiting in the wings. Alabama has recruited well at receiver over the last several years, giving offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin a bevy of options.
Given Kiffin’s history, it’s safe to assume that one Alabama receiver will rise above and garner the majority of targets. Who are the guys that can potentially fill Cooper’s shoes?
