जिस समय पंजाब आतंकवाद की आग में जल रहा था उस समय आशुतोष महाराज ने पंजाब को अपनी कर्मभूमि के रूप में चुना. ज्ञान की तलाश में उन्होंने कई गुरों से साक्षात्कार किया और पाया कि कोई भी गुरु पूर्ण नहीं हैं. अच्छे और सिद्ध गुरु की तलाश में वे कई धर्मगुरुओं के बीच रहे भी और उनसे शास्त्रार्थ भी किया, लेकिन उनकी ज्ञान पिपासा को कोई शांत नहीं कर सका.
