Who Really Killed JFK? Trump’s Declassification Move May Change the Narrative

Who killed President John F. Kennedy? You wouldn’t believe us if we told you.
A recent Gallup poll shows that 65 percent of Americans now believe JFK was killed on November 22, as the result of an assassination conspiracy, rejecting the official “Lone Gunman” theory that the Report of the President’s Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a.k.a. the Warren Commission Report, proposed.
The talk of government conspiracies and mafia-orchestrated hits has so pervaded popular culture (particularly after the release of Oliver Stone’s hit film JFK), that it would not be unfair to suggest most post-Baby Boomer Americans know about JFK’s death far more than his life.
That demand for “answers” from the public is likely what drove President Donald Trump to recently sign an executive order to release, per the Associated Press, “thousands of classified governmental documents about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy,” along with documents pertaining to the assassinations of Kennedy’s brother Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights lea
10 Conspiracy Theories About the JFK Assassination
On Nov. 22, , President John F. Kennedy was gunned down as he rode in a motorcade through Dallas. That killing, and the subsequent murder of his alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald while in police custody, traumatized a nation so intensely that the feeling has never quite faded.
The Warren Commission, a board of inquest appointed by JFK's successor Lyndon B. Johnson, produced a voluminous report to substantiate the official conclusion that Oswald had indeed killed Kennedy and acted alone.
Yet many people found that story difficult to accept.
How could someone who displayed abysmal marksmanship skills in his brief Marine Corps career, manage to hit a distant, moving target with two of the three shots that he fired from a sixth-floor window? What if Oswald was telling the truth when, after his arrest, he said, "I'm just a patsy"? And wasn't it a bit too convenient that Jack Ruby, a nightclub owner with conspicuous organized crime connections, got close enough to Oswald to kill him, before he could talk further?
It didn't help when, in , a Congressional committee that reopened the case concluded that the original inve
New JFK assassination files: What was revealed about Oswald and CIA plots?
The Trump administration on Tuesday released more than 2, files related to the assassination of former United States President John F Kennedy — a case that has fuelled conspiracy theories for more than 60 years.
While there is limited evidence to suggest that the initial explanation surrounding JFK’s death was inaccurate or misleading, the released documents shed light on how the US gathered intelligence during the Cold War. They also detail intelligence reports about Kennedy’s killer.
Kennedy was killed in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, , by Lee Harvey Oswald, a then year-old former US marine, who shot him from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. Oswald was killed just two days later by nightclub owner Jack Ruby during a jail transfer.
In the aftermath of Kennedy’s death, President Lyndon B Johnson established the Warren Commission, named after then-Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren, who led the investigation. In , the commission concluded that Oswald acted alone and found no credible evidence to suggest the involvement of anyone else.

"People have been waiting for decades for this, and I've instructed my people that are responsible put together by Tulsi Gabbard," Trump said, referencing his Director of National Intelligence. (This part of the quote appears incomplete or unclear. If "put together by Tulsi Gabbard" is an error, it may need revision.)
Historians, too, have eagerly awaited the release of the documents, hoping to learn more about the murder of a sitting president.
